Aruanã was present at the workshop to develop the official position paper of the Environmental Parliamentary Front of the National Congress at COP30, held at WWF Brazil's headquarters in Brasília (September 19). Our research director, Israel Araujo , brought to the table the impacts of climate disasters on the daily diets of vulnerable communities, highlighting the increase in consumption of ultra-processed foods in light of the difficulties imposed by extreme events.

Furthermore, the Institute reinforced the need to create financial mechanisms aimed at repairing losses and damage to traditional food systems affected by such climate crises, emphasizing that the sociocultural survival of these communities depends on the preservation of their ways of life and food security.

Aruanã's role goes beyond participating in policymaking meetings. The organization operates in the Pan-Amazon region, promoting interdisciplinary research, advocacy, training, leadership development, and scientific dissemination on human rights, sustainability, climate justice, and the appreciation of local populations' knowledge. Its actions include implementing holistic solutions, producing data and indicators, educational communication, and engagement campaigns that influence political decisions and expand the protection of socio-environmental rights.

These initiatives consolidate Aruanã as a reference in the defense of traditional food systems and in the search for alternatives to strengthen Amazonian communities in the face of the challenges posed by climate change.
