Aruanã Pan-Amazonian Institute joins the Climate Working Group of the National Congress

The Aruanã Pan-Amazonian Institute was selected to form part of the Climate Working Group of the Environmental Parliamentary Front in the National Congress.
The initiative brings together civil society organizations with technical expertise and territorial involvement to collaborate on developing legislative responses to the climate crisis.
Among 77 registered institutions from different regions of the country, Aruanã stood out for its work focused on socio-environmental governance in the Pan-Amazon, anchored in the production of applied knowledge, dialogue and the articulation of public policies informed by evidence.
"Participation in the Climate Working Group allows us to bring the specificities of the Amazon region to the center of the legislative debate in a technical and qualified manner. We are committed to contributing consistent diagnoses and proposals that address the complexity of the territories we represent," says Israel Araújo, the institute's research director.
Based in Belém, Aruanã integrates technical and political efforts that combine science, advocacy, and communication. The WG's role will involve monitoring proposals, producing technical input, and maintaining ongoing dialogue with parliamentarians and other organizations. The goal is to ensure that climate policymaking incorporates the specificities, challenges, and potential of the Amazon region.
The group's meetings, with the participation of the selected institutions, began this semester, where an agenda of legislative priorities and joint action strategies was defined.
